District Election Officer Chairs Meeting with Political Parties, Emphasizes Transparency and Accessibility

In a significant step towards ensuring inclusive and transparent electoral practices, the District Election Officer of Jamshedpur, Ananya Mittal, convened a meeting with representatives from various political parties at the Collectorate Auditorium to discuss crucial aspects of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

JAMSHEDPUR – Ananya Mittal, the District Election Officer, chaired a vital meeting at the Collectorate Auditorium in Jamshedpur, attended by representatives from political parties, to address key issues related to the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, with a focus on transparency, fairness, and inclusivity.

The meeting, also attended by Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar and PD ITDA cum Senior Officer Expenditure Cell Dipankar Chaudhary, provided comprehensive insights into the arrangements made at polling centers, including home voting, postal ballot services, and the scrutiny of election expenditure registers.

A notable highlight was the announcement of home voting provisions for individuals aged 85 and above, as well as those with a disability of at least 40 percent, in line with Election Commission guidelines.

Impressively, 226 voters in the district have already applied for this service, reflecting the importance of inclusive electoral processes.

The District Election Officer also outlined plans to provide transportation services for elderly and disabled individuals to ensure accessibility to polling booths.

Political parties were encouraged to nominate representatives to oversee EVM dispatch and receiving procedures, emphasizing the commitment to fairness and transparency.

The meeting stressed the importance of maintaining accurate records of election expenditure, with candidates urged to document their expenses meticulously for scrutiny by monitoring teams at various stages.

Comprehensive arrangements, including shelters, wheelchairs, ramps, drinking water facilities, and sanitation amenities, are being made at all polling stations to cater to voter needs, along with robust security measures to ensure a conducive environment.

The meeting underscored the District Election Officer’s dedication to conducting elections with integrity and inclusivity, setting a precedent for transparent electoral practices in Jamshedpur.
