Amar Singh, the maverick of Indian politics, is no more

New Delhi: Rajya Sabha member and former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh is no more. He died in Singapore on Saturday. He was 64 and was suffering from Kidney-related ailments.

Amar Singh was a name to reckon with in Indian politics during Mulayam Singh Yadav’s rule as the Chief Minister.

Amar Singh was expelled from the party by Akhilesh Yadav in 2017. He was expelled even in 2010, but was later reinstated after a few years’ gap.

Amar Singh was known for his connections and ability to use his connections in the most prolific manner. He had friends across the political horizon as will as Bollywood.

Amar Singh was also known as a close friend of Amitabh Bachchan. However, the relations were strained a bit in the recent times.

Amar Singh had tried to patch up with Amitabh Bachchan and had even felt sorry for the strain in the relationship.

Amar Singh will be known as a wily politician who knew Indian politics very well and he darted through the political alleys of India deftly.
