Inquiry report submitted, erring police officer to face action now

Ranchi: The report of the internal inquiry against the officer-in-charge of Barhet police station Harish Pathak has been submitted and based on it a criminal case will be lodged against the erring police officer for beating a girl.

Following the orders of the Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren, an internal inquiry was conducted against Barhet police station in-charge who had been accused of beating a girl. The inquiry report was submitted yesterday and based on the report, it was directed to lodge a criminal case against the police station in-charge. The Chief Minister has directed to take strict action against the accused.

M V Rao, Director General of Police informed the Chief Minister that the investigation report of Barhet Police Station In-charge was received. Based on the report, it has been directed to lodge a criminal case against accused Inspector Harish Pathak and so that quick justice could be done through speedy trial.

He made it clear that Jharkhand Police is always with the public and for the public.

The video was brought to the notice of the Chief Minster Hemant Soren who called it unjustified and shameful. He also said that this is not something that should be tolerated.

The Chief Minister had directed the DGP M V Rao to enquire into the matter and take strictest action against the guilty officer-in-charge.

In reply, the DGP M V Rao has informed the Chief Minister that the officer has been sent to the Police Lines and has been suspended.

DSP Barharwa has been directed to enquire and submit the report at the earliest and further appropriate action will be taken on receipt of the report. He said that instructions for the security of the victim have been issued too.

Meanwhile, the person who shot the video that went viral has alleged that a conspiracy is now being hatched to book him under fake SC/ST case.
