Members Discuss Development Work and Future Plans

Key Points:

  • Andhra Association’s annual general meeting held at Centenary Hall
  • Secretary’s report highlights new lift, rooftop hall construction
  • Association marks centenary year spanning 1926 to 2026

JAMSHEDPUR – The annual general meeting of the Andhra Association was held on Sunday at the Centenary Hall within the association’s premises in Kadma.

Trustees, life members, managing committee members and a large number of general members attended the meeting. The gathering began with the association’s prayer.

Following this, minutes of the previous annual general meeting, held on September 29, 2024, were confirmed. Members also paid tribute to deceased members by observing a two-minute silence.

Honorary General Secretary Y.K. Sharma presented the secretary’s report covering the period from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2026. He detailed various development, educational, cultural, sports and social service activities undertaken by the association during this period.

Among the key achievements, he cited the construction and inauguration of a new passenger lift and the Centenary Hall, a rooftop facility. According to him, these additions have provided members with improved amenities.

Major K. Satyanarayan, president of the association, commended the collective efforts of trustees, the managing committee, members and staff in his address. He said the organization was celebrating its centenary year, spanning 1926 to 2026, with pride.

He further stressed the need to strengthen unity, transparency and the spirit of service within the organization during this milestone year.

Audited accounts for the financial years 2024-25 and 2025-26 were also presented before members at the meeting. After detailed discussion, the general body unanimously approved the accounts for both financial years.

In addition, members held a positive discussion on various issues related to the association’s welfare and future development. Suggestions put forward by members were accepted for consideration in line with the association’s constitution.

Finally, gratitude was expressed for the cooperation and active participation of all members. The annual general meeting concluded with a vote of thanks followed by the national anthem.

Community organizations in Kadma have periodically held similar milestone gatherings, including one where a local trust held its 101st AGM to choose a new committee. Meanwhile, other associations in the city have occasionally seen disputes over such proceedings, as seen in a case involving a rift over the constitutionality of an AGM.

Besides community bodies, corporate entities in the region also hold similar annual exercises, with Tata Steel having held its AGM on a virtual platform in the past. On the other hand, professional associations in Jamshedpur have also marked notable achievements, such as when the Jamshedpur Management Association won recognition at a national management convention.

The Andhra community in the city has also been active in religious and cultural observances, including when the Andhra temple celebrated Vaikuntha Ekadashi with grandeur. Kadma has additionally seen visits from state leaders, such as when the state health minister inaugurated a children’s park in the locality.
