JAMSHEDPUR – The Naval Tata Hockey Academy launched its 2026 Summer Camp on Monday at its Jamshedpur facility, kicking off a two-week training programme for young hockey players.
The camp will run from May 11 through May 23. Daily sessions are scheduled from 6:30 AM to 8:00 AM. The morning hours are chosen to help athletes build stamina and agility in optimal conditions.
Head Coach Manish Kumar led the opening ceremony. He underlined the academy’s commitment to developing grassroots talent. Moreover, he stressed the role of disciplined training and expert mentorship in shaping young players.
Former Indian Army hockey player Manjit Singh also addressed the gathering. He shared his experience with the trainees. In addition, he spoke on the importance of perseverance and the rich legacy of hockey in India.
The camp is designed to sharpen participants’ technical skills. It also aims to deepen their tactical understanding of the game. However, the academy clarified that it is not limited to elite players — beginners too are welcome.
The Naval Tata Hockey Academy has announced that its registration window remains open for a short period. This is intended to accommodate interested participants who missed the camp’s start date.
Late applicants are encouraged to visit the Jamshedpur venue at the earliest. Spots are limited, and the academy urged aspiring players and their parents to register without delay.
The Naval Tata Hockey Academy is one of the premier sports institutions in Jharkhand. It has produced several players who have gone on to represent Hockey India at the national level. Among its notable alumni is Roshan Ekka, who was selected for the Hockey India Junior National Camp at SAI Bangalore earlier this year.
