Fake Caste Certificate Allegation Against Panchayat Member

Villagers Seek Probe Into ST Status Claim in Jamshedpur

Key Points:

  • Villagers Allege Fake ST Certificate in 2022 Election
  • Questions Raised Over Eligibility and Ancestral Records
  • Demand for Administrative Inquiry and Legal Action

JAMSHEDPUR – Villagers have demanded an investigation into alleged irregularities in a caste certificate used during local elections.

Residents of Palashbani Panchayat have accused a committee member of fraud. They claim the individual used a questionable caste certificate in elections.

However, the member was elected in 2022 from an ST-reserved seat. Villagers argue he does not meet the required eligibility criteria.

Meanwhile, the certificate submitted during nomination has raised doubts. It carries the number JHCST/2022/194655 and was issued in May 2022.

Moreover, it was reportedly issued by the Mango circle office. Residents claim the document violates state norms for ST certification.

According to villagers, eligibility requires pre-1950 residence proof. Alternatively, records from the 1964 khatiyan must support claims.

In contrast, they argue neither condition applies in this case. This has triggered widespread concern in the area.

Furthermore, villagers stated that the member’s ancestral roots lie elsewhere. They linked his family to Pilka village in West Singhbhum district.

They also claimed the family is recorded under the ‘Kamar’ caste. This category falls under EBC-1, not ST classification.

On the other hand, contesting from an ST seat under such conditions is disputed. Residents say this violates election norms.

Meanwhile, additional allegations have also surfaced against the member. Villagers claim involvement in unlawful activities.

They stated multiple criminal cases are pending in East Singhbhum court. However, no official confirmation has been released yet.

Moreover, residents have urged authorities for a fair inquiry. They demanded strict action if allegations are proven.

In Jamshedpur, such disputes have previously led to legal scrutiny. Authorities often verify caste certificates in reserved elections.

However, no official response has been issued by the accused member. The administration has also not released a statement so far.
