MLA Sanjib Sardar Joins Tusu Festivities in His Ancestral Village

JAMSHEDPUR – Rural areas around Jamshedpur came alive with the vibrant celebrations of Tusu festival, a traditional occasion deeply rooted in Jharkhand’s culture. Among the revelers was Vodka constituency MLA Sanjib Sardar, who visited his ancestral village Udhal to mark the occasion with his family and community.

Sardar began the day by enjoying traditional delicacies like tilkut and pitha. He later joined the villagers in playing the mandaar, a traditional drum, as men and women danced to its rhythmic beats and sang folk Tusu songs.

A Festival of Unity and Heritage

Tusu, often celebrated alongside Makar Sankranti, is a significant cultural event in Jharkhand. Across India, the festival takes on different names and forms, reflecting the rich diversity of regional traditions.

Sardar emphasized the importance of preserving Jharkhandi culture. “This festival is a rare opportunity for families to come together. It is up to the elders to preserve our cultural heritage and traditions for future generations,” he said.

The celebration showcased the unity and joy that Tusu brings to rural communities. Villagers expressed their happiness at the participation of local leaders, highlighting the importance of shared cultural experiences.

Tusu festival continues to serve as a vibrant reminder of Jharkhand’s rich heritage and the collective effort needed to keep its traditions alive.
