Pension Crisis Hits 68,000 Beneficiaries in East Singhbhum

Central Fund Delay Leaves Thousands Without Pension for Three Months

Key Points:

  • Pension payments stalled since September due to central fund allocation delay
  • Over 56,000 elderly among affected beneficiaries in East Singhbhum
  • State increases pension amount to Rs 2,500 from December

JAMSHEDPUR – Three-month pension delay affects 68,000 beneficiaries in East Singhbhum as central funds remain unavailable.

The pension crisis has severely impacted vulnerable populations across East Singhbhum district.

Meanwhile, elderly citizens form the largest group of affected beneficiaries. Moreover, the situation affects 10,756 widows and 721 disabled persons.

In addition, beneficiaries queue daily at local offices seeking answers. Furthermore, many travel long distances to check their payment status.

Impact on Additional Schemes

The crisis extends beyond central pension schemes. Moreover, 32,000 women under Maiya Samman Yojana await payments.

However, state pension beneficiaries received payments until November. Meanwhile, December payments remain pending for all schemes.

Administrative Response

Officials are compiling data from banks about affected beneficiaries. “Technical issues might be causing payment delays,” stated a local official.

On the other hand, the department plans case-by-case resolution. Furthermore, similar pension delays occurred in 2022.

Meanwhile, bank account detail verification is underway. Additionally, IFSC code errors contribute to payment issues.

In contrast, the state announced positive changes. The pension amount will increase significantly.

“We expect resolution within weeks,” mentioned a reliable source. Moreover, officials work to prevent future delays.
