RPF, Childline Join Forces to Reunite 14-year-old With Family

JAMSHEDPUR – Alert railway staff rescued an unaccompanied minor from the Howrah-CSMT Duronto Express at Tatanagar Station.
TTI Debdeep Basu spotted the young passenger during checks.
The 14-year-old had no valid ticket for the journey.
Moreover, the teen was traveling without any adult supervision.
"We immediately prioritized the child’s safety and well-being," said a railway official.
The RPF team at Tatanagar Station took charge of the situation.
Meanwhile, they contacted Childline for professional assistance.
This rescue highlights the growing concerns about child runaways.
In fact, Tatanagar Station reported 25 similar cases last year.
Furthermore, the RPF conducts special drives to identify unaccompanied minors.
On the other hand, Childline operates a 24/7 helpline (1098) for child-related emergencies.
The organization has handled over 500 cases in Jamshedpur region.
Additionally, they maintain temporary shelters for rescued children.
"Most runaways are found within 48 hours of their disappearance," noted a child welfare expert.
