Key Points:

• SSP conducts surprise check at Kesharpur interstate post

• Strict vehicle inspections implemented to prevent voter influence

• Multiple cash seizures made from vehicles crossing checkpoint

JAMSHEDPUR – In a bid to ensure fair elections, local authorities intensify security measures at key checkpoints.

Senior Superintendent of Police Kishore Kaushal conducted an unannounced inspection at the Kesharpur interstate checkpoint on Monday.

The visit aimed to reinforce security protocols ahead of the Jharkhand assembly elections.

Kaushal reviewed vehicle checking procedures during his visit to the post.

He emphasized thorough inspections of all vehicles, particularly those entering from West Bengal.

The SSP instructed officials to scrutinize both small and large vehicles without exception.

"We must remain vigilant to prevent any illegal activities that could compromise the election process," stated a local police official.

Kaushal stressed the importance of immediate seizure and reporting of suspicious items.

Several administrative and police officials accompanied the SSP during the inspection.

Heightened Security Measures

The police have implemented stringent checks on the Galudih-Narsinghpur route.

These efforts have already yielded results, with multiple cash seizures reported.

A pickup van from Koderma was found carrying Rs 94,900 in cash.

Another vehicle from West Bengal contained Rs 2,36,500.

"Our goal is to maintain the integrity of the electoral process," explained a senior police officer.

Additional seizures included Rs 2,39,600 from a Baharagora-based vehicle.

Two other vehicles were found with Rs 1,10,000 and Rs 1,00,000 respectively.

The drivers of the latter two vehicles were released after providing valid documentation.

Jail Security Tightened

In a related development, authorities conducted a raid at Ghaghidih Central Jail.

The operation, led by City SP Kumar Devashish, took place on Sunday night.

This action followed the recent discovery of mobile phones within the facility.

A team of 80 officers participated in the thorough search of all prisoner wards.

Only gutkha was found as contraband during this particular raid.

The increased scrutiny comes after mobile phones were seized in a previous search.
