BJP Veteran Mangal Singh Soy Seeks Party Exit Over Ticket Denial

Former MLA Soy expresses discontent in letter to state president

Key Points:

• Soy requests release from BJP duties after ticket denial

• Former MLA cites 20+ years of service and past electoral victory

• Criticizes party’s treatment of loyal leaders ahead of elections

SERAIKELA – A longstanding BJP member has requested to be relieved of party responsibilities following disappointment over ticket distribution for the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections.

Mangal Singh Soy, former MLA from Kharsawan, penned a letter to BJP state president Babulal Marandi.

In his missive, Soy expressed his desire to step back from party duties.

The veteran politician highlighted his two-decade-long commitment to the BJP.

He reminded the party leadership of his significant electoral victory in 2009.

Soy had defeated the Congress candidate by a substantial margin of 25,000 votes.

The former MLA recounted sacrificing his assembly seat in 2010 for party interests.

He had vacated the position to allow former Chief Minister Arjun Munda to contest.

However, Soy’s loyalty was not rewarded with a ticket for the 2019 elections.

The party instead chose Jawaharlal Banra, a Chaibasa resident, who ultimately lost.

Soy’s appeals to contest in the 2024 elections were reportedly overlooked.

This decision left him feeling undervalued after years of dedicated service.

The veteran leader criticized the BJP’s treatment of its long-standing members.

He referenced allegations regarding the party’s respect for Champai Soren after his JMM move.

Soy’s discontent reflects growing internal tensions within the BJP.

These developments raise questions about the party’s dynamics as elections approach.
