– Nationwide protest planned in Delhi on November 22.

JAMSHEDPUR – Medical and sales representatives, under the banner of the Federation of Medical and Sales Representatives’ Associations of India (FMRAI), gathered at the DC office in Jamshedpur on Thursday as part of a nationwide protest demanding statutory protections and fair working conditions.

The demonstrators, voicing strong opposition against pharmaceutical companies, accused them of imposing excessive workloads on representatives due to the lack of specific labor laws governing their employment.

Vinay Kumar, Secretary of the BSSR Union Jamshedpur, stated, "Despite 77 years of independence, medical and sales representatives are still working without adequate legal safeguards. This is unacceptable."

He highlighted that the union’s main demand is the implementation of a statutory work system through Section 12 of the Sales Promotion Employees Act of 1976.

"Without proper legal protection, we are subjected to inhumane working conditions that are outright illegal," Kumar added.

The union submitted a memorandum to the DC, addressed to the Union Labor Minister, detailing their demands.

The protestors made it clear that if their demands are not met, they will escalate their actions.

In addition to this local demonstration, the union has announced a nationwide protest scheduled to take place in Delhi on November 22.

Representatives from across the country will converge to press for their rights.
