Health Minister Banna Gupta inaugurates pulse polio campaign in Jharkhand, making polio doses mandatory for children aged 1 to 5 years

The nationwide Pulse Polio Immunization Drive has commenced under India’s polio-free initiative, aiming to administer polio doses to 3.95 lakh children in Jharkhand.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Pulse Polio Immunization Drive has been launched across the country today as part of India’s ongoing efforts to maintain its polio-free status.

Jharkhand has also begun its polio eradication program under this campaign.

State Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare Minister Banna Gupta initiated the campaign from his assembly constituency.

He officially launched the program at the Ayushman Arogya Mandir premises in Ram Janam Nagar, Kadma.

Gupta mentioned that although the state has achieved full control over polio, administering polio doses to children aged 1 to 5 years remains crucial for continued protection.

He urged parents to actively participate in the ‘Do Boond Zindagi’ campaign and ensure their children receive the polio vaccine.

Additionally, the Health Department has set a target to administer polio doses to 3,95,368 children across the district on the first day.

The department has made all necessary preparations to achieve this target.

Polio Status in the State

Despite having full control over polio in the state, the government is taking no chances.

The Health Department has ensured that every child receives the polio vaccine on time.

Banna Gupta stated, "It is our responsibility to protect every child in the state from serious diseases like polio."

Under this campaign, polio drops will be made available across all districts.

Moreover, healthcare workers have been trained to expedite the vaccination process.
