3 arrested for demanding rangadaari from Namda Basti transporter, sent to jail

Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur police have arrested three members of a gang on the charges of threatening a transporter Sukhvinder Singh with firearms and have sent them to judicial custody.

The police have also seized one country-made pistol, one magazine, three live cartridges anda Mahindra XUV 500 with registration No. JH05 CN 0374 from their possession.

Briefing the media about the arrests, the SSP of Jamshedpur, Dr. M Tamil Vanan said that about five miscreants had asked for extortion money (rangdaari) from a transporter Sukhvinder Singh of Namda Basti. He said that they had also threatened him with firearms.

Sukhvinder Singh hâd filed an FIR with Telco police. The City SP had formed a team to arrest the accused. The same team raided a hideout and arrested one Gurcharan Singh alias Raja Dubey, Sanjay Kumar and Shiva Santra from near Bhuvaneshwari Mandir area.

The police claimed that all the three accused have confessed to their involvement in the crime

According to the SSP, Sukhvinder Singh as well as Sudhir Dubey both run stone crusher machines and there were business related rivalries between them.

One accused has criminal antecedents too. The SSP said that the other accused too would be arrested soon.
