Tagore Society Celebrates Varsha Mangal at Rabindra Bhawan

Annual monsoon tribute features dance and song performances by Tagore School of Arts

The Tagore Society honors Rabindranath Tagore’s love for monsoon season with traditional Varsha Mangal event.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Tagore Society organized its annual Varsha Mangal celebration at Rabindra Bhawan, paying homage to Rabindranath Tagore’s affinity for the monsoon season.

Varsha Mangal, an annual tradition established by Tagore himself, celebrates the poet’s favorite season.

Students and teachers from the Tagore School of Arts presented a dance and song performance titled ‘Varsha Mangal.’

The program featured Tagore’s monsoon-themed play, ‘Ajhor Dharay Shravan Jhor.’

Performances showcased compositions celebrating the moods and textures of the monsoon season.

Chandana Chowdhury directed the song-dance and music compositions for the event.

Ashis Chowdhury, General Secretary of Tagore Society, highlighted how Tagore’s works intensified the mood and texture of nature and its seasons.

Tagore, known as the poet of seasons, welcomed each season with his compositions of poetry and songs.

The celebration continues Tagore’s tradition of honoring the arrival of monsoon through artistic expression.

The event at Rabindra Bhavan brought together art enthusiasts to appreciate Tagore’s monsoon-inspired works.

Varsha Mangal serves as a reminder of Tagore’s deep connection to nature and its seasonal rhythms.

The performances aimed to capture the essence of Tagore’s monsoon-themed compositions and their cultural significance.
