Train Services Resume After Howrah-Mumbai Mail Accident

Speed Restrictions in Place as Repairs Conclude on Damaged Tracks

Railway officials implement cautionary measures following the July 30 collision, with full service normalization expected within days.

JAMSHEDPUR – Train operations have resumed on all three lines between Rajkharsawan and Badabambo stations following the recent Howrah-Mumbai Mail accident, with speed restrictions in place for safety.

The July 30 collision near Potobeda village had disrupted services, prompting immediate repair efforts by railway authorities.

"Trains will operate at 10 to 20 kilometers per hour near the accident site," a senior South Eastern Railways official confirmed, emphasizing safety protocols.

CRS Brajesh Mishra authorized the resumption of services, with goods trains leading the way on the repaired tracks.

The accident, involving the Howrah-Mumbai Mail and a derailed goods train, claimed two lives and injured over 22 passengers.

Railway teams worked tirelessly, restoring the third line by Wednesday evening and completing repairs on the up and down lines by Thursday afternoon.

"We’re gradually returning to normal operations," stated GM Anil Mishra after inspecting the site with Railway Board safety representatives.

Several trains face diversions or cancellations, with the Utkal Express and Puri-Yoga Nagari Rishikesh Express rerouted to avoid Chakradharpur.

The LTT Mumbai-Shalimar Express will now travel via Rourkela, Nuagaon, and Adra, accommodating the ongoing service adjustments.

Passengers are advised to check for updates, as full service normalization is expected to take two to three more days.
