Meteorological Centre Ranchi Warns of Widespread Precipitation Across Multiple Districts
Jharkhand braces for significant rainfall as the Meteorological Centre in Ranchi issues alerts for heavy downpours across the state, signaling a potential turnaround in the monsoon deficit.
RANCHI – The Meteorological Centre, Ranchi has issued a series of heavy rain warnings for Jharkhand, indicating an intensification of monsoon activity over the next three days.
The warnings come as a relief to the state, which has been experiencing a substantial rainfall deficit of 61% since the start of the monsoon season on June 1, 2024.
According to the latest weather data, Jharkhand has received only 73.5 mm of rainfall against the normal of 189.5 mm for this period.
The heavy rain warnings were made for four days with separate levels of forecast:
1. Day 1 (valid until 08:30 IST of 01/07/2024): Yellow alert (Watch) for isolated heavy rain in most districts, excluding the southern region.
2. Day 2 (01/07/2024 to 02/07/2024): Yellow alert expanded to cover more central and eastern districts.
3. Day 3 (02/07/2024 to 03/07/2024): Widespread yellow alerts with isolated heavy rain expected across nearly the entire state.
4. Day 4 (03/07/2024 to 04/07/2024): Limited Yellow alerts for a few north-eastern districts, while isolated heavy rain is expected in other districts.
Notably, some districts have experienced significant rainfall in the past 24 hours:
– Bishnugarh: 118.3 mm
– Bokaro Thermal: 95.4 mm
– Borio: 92.8 mm
– Palamu DTG KVK AWS: 86 mm
The highest maximum temperature of 38.4°C was recorded in Daltonganj, while the lowest minimum temperature stood at 22.5°C in the same location.
This shift in weather patterns could help alleviate the current rainfall deficit and benefit agricultural activities across the state,” stated a meteorologist from the Ranchi centre.
Residents are advised to stay updated on the latest weather information and take necessary precautions during heavy rainfall events.
