Jamshedpur: After getting ‘Consent to Operate’ (CTO) from Jharkhand State Pollution Control Council for two major sand ghats of East Singhbhum district, the District Mining Department has issued transport challan. With this, the path for legal sand mining and transportation in the district has been completely paved.
The sand ghats which have been given permission for operation and transportation include Korea-Mohanpal sand ghat with an area of 34.70 hectares and Korea-Mohanpal and Swarnarekha sand ghats expanded in an area of 46.30 hectares.
After the legal start of sand lifting from these two ghats, the state government is likely to earn mining revenue of about Rs 20 crore. Also, by ensuring regular supply of sand through valid invoices, effective control on illegal mining and illegal transportation can be established.
With the start of operation of sand ghats in the district, sand will now be available to the common people in a legal and easy manner. This will remove obstacles in government and private construction works and will give impetus to development plans. At the same time, sand will be easily available to common citizens for house construction and other construction works.
