- Gumti stall reduced to ashes, loss pegged at Rs 45,000
- Police suspect fire started from burning garbage behind station
JAMSHEDPUR – A major fire erupted behind Ghaghra police station in Gumla, destroying vehicles and a nearby stall while triggering panic.
The incident occurred behind the Ghaghra police premises in Jharkhand. The fire spread rapidly and caused chaos in the area.
However, flames quickly engulfed several seized vehicles kept inside the premises. Meanwhile, thick smoke filled the surroundings and alarmed residents.
Moreover, a nearby roadside gumti was completely destroyed in the blaze. The structure burned down entirely within a short time.
On the other hand, locals and police tried to control the flames initially. However, their efforts failed due to the intensity of the fire.
Meanwhile, the fire brigade was alerted immediately after the situation worsened. Firefighters reached the site and controlled the blaze after sustained efforts.
Moreover, the gumti owner, identified as Vimal Ghosh, reported heavy losses. He stated that the damage amounted to nearly Rs 45,000.
However, police officials indicated a possible cause behind the incident. They said garbage was regularly dumped behind the station.
Meanwhile, suspicion remains that someone may have set the garbage on fire. This act likely triggered the larger blaze that followed.
In contrast, officials have not issued a detailed public statement yet. The station in-charge has avoided commenting extensively on the case.
Moreover, investigations are currently underway to determine exact causes. Authorities are examining whether negligence or deliberate action was involved.
Such fire incidents have been reported earlier in parts of Ranchi and nearby districts. Officials often cite unmanaged waste and human activity as key risks.
