JAMSHEDPUR – Angry ration cardholders protested at Ghorabandha’s government fair price shop after being denied supplies for three to four months despite biometric verification.
The incident occurred at a Public Distribution System outlet in Ghorabandha. Ration cardholders alleged they completed fingerprint authentication monthly. However, they received no ration in return for months.
The shop is operated by Abhimanyu Kumar Singh. His dealer license number is 32840.357.2021.10. Moreover, beneficiaries claimed biometric verification happens every month without fail.
“We give our thumbprints but get nothing,” said an aggrieved cardholder. “This has been continuing for three to four months now.”
The cardholders leveled serious allegations against the PDS dealer and officials. They accused the Marketing Officer of colluding with the shopkeeper. Furthermore, they alleged this nexus caused the irregularities in distribution.
Poor families are facing severe hardships due to this negligence. The food security scheme beneficiaries expressed deep frustration over the situation. In addition, they demanded immediate action against the erring officials.
The angry cardholders demanded cancellation of the dealer’s license. They also sought a high-level inquiry into the matter. On the other hand, the dealer has not responded to the allegations.
The Jamshedpur administration is yet to take cognizance of the issue. Meanwhile, affected families continue to struggle without their entitled rations. The East Singhbhum district has witnessed similar complaints earlier too.
