AJSU Protests Police Actions, MP Bidyut Mahato Joins Agitation

Party Submits Memo to DC Alleging Harassment and Selective Fines

Key Points:

  • AJSU protests against alleged arbitrary actions of traffic police
  • Memo highlights selective fines, faulty parking, and poor roads
  • MP Bidyut Mahato supports agitation, demands immediate action

JAMSHEDPUR – The AJSU Party launched a protest on Monday against alleged irregularities by the city’s traffic police.

District president Kanhaiya Singh led party members in submitting a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner. The note demanded immediate correction of flaws in traffic management. Leaders accused the police of harassing people with arbitrary rules and fines.

They claimed that flags were removed from political vehicles and fines imposed, citing High Court orders. However, no similar action was seen against private vehicles with police boards, dark films, or other violations.

Former minister and AJSU’s central general secretary Ramchandra Sahis alleged that many police vehicles lacked valid documents. He stated that some ran without insurance, pollution certificates, or number plates. He added that seized vehicles were also misused, causing loss of revenue.

Kanhaiya Singh alleged bias in parking enforcement. According to him, small shopkeepers and customers faced fines, while influential establishments used half the road for parking without police objection.

The memorandum also demanded repairs of several damaged city roads, including:

  • Tatanagar station to Bambeda road
  • Chaibasa bus stand to Karandih chowk
  • Star Talkies Birma Mines to Kesla School
  • Birma Mines Gurdwara road

Leaders warned of intensifying the agitation if issues were not resolved quickly. The protest also received support from local MP Bidyut Baran Mahato, who urged the administration to act immediately.
