Heavy Rains Collapse Multiple Houses in Seraikela’s Rajnagar Block

Disabled Man’s Son Escapes Death as Roof Falls on His Bed

Key Points:

  • Continuous rainfall damages mud houses across several villages
  • Vivek Kalindi narrowly escapes as roof collapses on his bed
  • Panchayat head Namita Soren inspects damaged properties next morning

SERAIKELA – Persistent heavy rainfall has caused widespread destruction of mud houses across villages in Rajnagar block of Seraikela district.

Multiple houses suffered severe structural damage due to continuous downpours. Roofs collapsed in several homes throughout the affected areas. Walls of numerous mud structures also crumbled under water pressure.

However, the most dramatic incident occurred in Bhalupani village. Disabled resident Vasudev Kalindi was sleeping with his family inside. His son Vivek Kalindi was resting on a cot in the veranda.

Meanwhile, around 11 PM, Vivek’s mother suddenly called him urgently. The young man immediately got up from the cot and stepped outside. Within moments, the entire roof crashed down with the wall.

On the other hand, the falling debris landed exactly where Vivek was sleeping. The cot was completely crushed under the heavy roof tiles. His narrow escape left the family emotionally shaken.

Moreover, his mother embraced him tearfully after the incident. She thanked God for saving her son’s life miraculously. The family considered it divine intervention in their moment of crisis.

In addition, several residents sustained injuries in similar house collapses. The mud construction proved vulnerable to prolonged water exposure. Many families lost their shelter due to structural failures.

Furthermore, Jonbani Panchayat head Namita Soren conducted damage assessment the following morning. She inspected the collapsed houses in Bhalupani village personally. The official survey documented extensive property damage.

Besides Bhalupani, other villages also reported significant destruction. Raja Basa, Jhalak, and Vishrampur witnessed multiple house collapses. The rainfall impact spread across several panchayat areas.

The administration is assessing relief requirements for affected families. Temporary shelter arrangements are being considered for displaced residents. Weather forecasts predict continued rainfall in the region.
