JAMSHEDPUR – Samaresh Singh Guddu, the legislative representative of Chakradharpur MLA Sukhram Oraon, was shot by unidentified assailants in Bistupur Khao Gali under Bistupur police station area on Thursday morning.

The incident occurred when Guddu was having breakfast with his family. Two motorcycle-borne criminals opened fire on him before fleeing the scene. However, the victim sustained bullet injuries in the attack.

The shooting created panic in the entire market area. Local shopkeepers and residents witnessed the brazen daylight attack. Moreover, the incident sent shockwaves through the political circles of the region.

Guddu was immediately rushed to Tata Main Hospital for treatment. Medical staff at TMH are currently attending to his injuries. Besides, his condition is being closely monitored by doctors.

The injured has been identified as Guddu alias Ramesh Singh. He serves as the official representative of Chakradharpur MLA Sukhram Oraon. Furthermore, he is actively involved in local political activities.

DSP Manoj Thakur, CCR DSP Jamshedpur, reached the spot immediately after receiving information. Police teams are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter. Additionally, senior officers are coordinating the probe.

Bistupur police station in-charge also arrived at the crime scene. They are examining CCTV footage from nearby establishments. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to identify the attackers.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear at this stage. Police are investigating all possible angles including political rivalry. However, no arrests have been made so far.

Witnesses described seeing two men on a motorcycle approaching the victim. They fired shots before speeding away from the location. On the other hand, locals immediately alerted the police.

The incident has raised concerns about law and order situation. Political leaders are expected to react to this brazen attack. Besides, security arrangements for public representatives may be reviewed.

Chakradharpur constituency falls under the Kolhan division of Jharkhand. MLA Sukhram Oraon represents the tribal-dominated constituency. Moreover, the area has witnessed political tensions in recent times.

Police are scanning nearby areas for the fleeing criminals. Road blocks have been set up at strategic points. In addition, informants are being contacted for leads.

The attack on a political representative has shocked the local community. Business activities in Bistupur market were temporarily affected. However, normalcy is gradually being restored.
