JAMSHEDPUR – A severe road accident in Seraikela district has left approximately 20 passengers injured after a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a hyva truck.

The tragic incident occurred around 6 PM on Wednesday evening. However, the crash happened near Kesar Garia on Chaibasa-Rajnagar route. Moreover, both vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when they collided.

The Maa Parvati passenger bus was carrying travelers from Barbil, Odisha. Meanwhile, it was heading towards Tatanagar via Chaibasa in West Singhbhum district. On the other hand, a speeding hyva truck approached from Tata direction.

Local residents and public representatives immediately responded to the emergency. Besides, they coordinated rescue efforts for the injured passengers. Furthermore, some victims were rushed to Chaibasa Sadar Hospital for treatment.

In addition, several other injured passengers were taken to Rajnagar Community Health Center. However, medical staff at both facilities are providing ongoing treatment. Moreover, the severity of injuries varies among the victims.

Police teams have reached the accident site under Rajnagar police station jurisdiction. Meanwhile, they have initiated a thorough investigation into the circumstances. However, rescue operations are still continuing at the location.

The high-speed impact caused extensive damage to both vehicles. Besides, approximately two dozen passengers sustained injuries of varying degrees. Furthermore, the accident highlights ongoing road safety concerns on this busy route.

Traffic movement on the Chaibasa-Rajnagar highway was temporarily affected. However, authorities are working to clear the accident site. Moreover, local administration has deployed additional resources for rescue operations.

The bus route connects multiple districts including Odisha’s Barbil region. Meanwhile, it serves as a crucial transportation link for daily commuters. However, this accident underscores the need for enhanced road safety measures.

Investigation teams are examining factors including vehicle speed and road conditions. Besides, they are collecting statements from witnesses and survivors. Furthermore, authorities will determine the exact cause of this collision.
