JAMSHEDPUR – Ritika Tirkey, a resident of Jugsalai and the first tribal woman loco pilot in India, is set to be honored by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan during the Republic Day At-Home Reception. This recognition not only highlights Ritika’s achievements but also brings pride to the tribal community of Jharkhand.

A Journey of Dedication and Growth

Ritika, 27, started her career in the Chakradharpur Railway Division, initially working in shunting operations. She then progressed to driving freight and passenger trains before being promoted to Senior Assistant Loco Pilot. Currently, she serves as Assistant Loco Pilot for the Tata-Patna Vande Bharat Express, a milestone in her career.

A Proud Moment for the Tribal Community

Her recognition on a national stage underscores the significance of her journey as the first tribal woman loco pilot. Ritika’s accomplishment serves as an inspiration to women and tribal communities, showcasing the opportunities available in Indian Railways.

Ritika, the eldest of five siblings, attributes her success to the unwavering support of her family, including her parents and younger siblings. She expressed her gratitude for being given the opportunity to drive one of the country’s most prestigious trains.
