CHAKULIA – MLA Samir Mohanty held a dialogue with senior bank officials at Agrasen Bhawan in Chakulia to address rural banking concerns.
Bank of India Zonal Manager Bhupendra Narayan attended the meeting. Lead District Manager Santosh Kumar was also present.
Moreover, BDO Arti Munda and Circle Officers participated. The discussion focused on improving banking services.
Focus on Rural Banking
The MLA highlighted discriminatory practices in banking. He noted the differential treatment between large and small borrowers.
Furthermore, Mohanty urged banks to improve rural access. He emphasized the need for better facilities for farmers.
“Small farmers face public shaming for minor defaults,” stated a meeting participant.
KCC Scheme Details
Officials explained the Kisan Credit Card scheme benefits. The program offers significant interest subsidies.
Meanwhile, LDM Santosh Kumar detailed the subsidy structure. The state and central governments provide 4% and 3% subsidies respectively.
“Loans become interest-free if repaid within a year,” explained a bank official.
Service Complaints
Several villagers reported issues with bank services. Dinbandhu Singh complained about account opening delays.
Additionally, Tapan Kar alleged misconduct by bank staff. The incident occurred during a routine deposit transaction.
“Branch managers need to be more responsive,” emphasized a local resident.
