JAMSHEDPUR – Ashish Pal, a Panchayat Committee member and BJP supporter, was allegedly attacked late Wednesday in Jamshedpur’s Ghorabandha area, reportedly due to his public chanting of "Jai Shri Ram" and his involvement in cow protection activities.

The attack allegedly took place around 10:30 p.m. while Pal was returning home from a BJP office.

According to accusations, two prominent JMM supporters, who have been named by the victim, and a group of around 20 others intercepted Pal, verbally assaulted him, and issued death threats.

One of them allegedly warned Pal against chanting "Jai Shri Ram" or engaging in cow protection, saying, "We won’t let you live in Ghorabandha if you keep this up."

During the incident, Pal’s religious symbols, including a Rudraksha necklace and forehead tilak, were forcibly removed by the assailants, leaving him deeply shaken and concerned for his safety.

Following the attack, Pal lodged a formal complaint with the Govindpur Police Station.

On Thursday, NDA candidate Ramchandra Sahis visited Pal’s residence, condemning the incident and urging the police to arrest the culprits promptly.

Sahis also met with the police to ensure strict action is taken, emphasizing that BJP and AJSU supporters will not be intimidated by such actions.

Local BJP and AJSU leaders have denounced the incident, stating it poses a threat to religious freedom and raises serious concerns about law and order in Ghorabandha.

They asserted that attacks over religious expression represent a dangerous shift, calling for justice and a stronger crackdown on lawlessness in the area.

Party figures, including Kanhaiya Singh, Ganesh Solanki, and Kamlesh Singh, were among the numerous BJP-AJSU activists present during the appeal for action.
