JAMSHEDPUR – Cricket legend Kapil Dev inaugurated the prestigious Tata Steel Tour Championship 2024 at Golmuri Golf Course while promoting golf’s growing popularity in India.

The former Indian cricket captain, along with D.B. Sundar Raman, Vice President of Tata Steel, launched the event.

The duo marked the occasion by hitting ceremonial opening shots at the course.

“The enthusiasm for golf is truly remarkable now,” said a senior PGTI official.

Growing Golf Culture

Meanwhile, the championship has attracted top golfers from across the country.

The tournament features a significant prize purse of Rs 3 crore this year.

On the other hand, local golf academies have reported increased youth enrollment.

Community Engagement

The PGTI Golf Putting Championship witnessed enthusiastic participation from families.

Young sports enthusiasts gathered at JRD Tata Sports Complex for autographs.

Moreover, local schools have started introducing golf as part of their sports curriculum.

Future Prospects

The event strengthens Jamshedpur’s position in India’s professional golf circuit.

However, organizers are already planning to expand the tournament’s scope next year.

In addition, the city plans to develop more golf training facilities.
