Jamshedpur Traffic Police Seize Modified Silencers from 42 Bullet Motorcycles

DSP Neeraj Kumar Says Drive Against Noise Pollution to Continue Across City

Key Points:

  • 42 Bullet motorcycles caught with illegal modified silencers in Jamshedpur
  • Traffic police seized silencers on the spot and fined the riders
  • DSP Neeraj Kumar warns of continued crackdown to curb noise pollution

JAMSHEDPUR — The Jamshedpur traffic police have launched a strict drive against modified silencers, detaining around 42 Bullet motorcycles fitted with illegally loud exhausts during checks across different parts of the city.

All the intercepted motorcycles were found to have modified silencers that produced noise far beyond permissible limits. The traffic police seized the modified silencers on the spot from each of the bikes.

The riders were fined for the violations. However, they were released after being issued a formal warning against repeating the offence.

Traffic DSP Neeraj Kumar said a special campaign had been launched in Jamshedpur specifically targeting modified silencers. He said action against rule-violating vehicle owners would continue without interruption.

“Such inspection drives will be conducted regularly to keep noise pollution under control in the city,” he said.

Loud modified silencers are known to sharply increase noise pollution levels. Moreover, they cause significant inconvenience to residents and pedestrians in busy urban areas.

The Jamshedpur traffic police have been running several enforcement campaigns in recent months. Earlier drives have targeted illegal parking and road encroachments in various parts of the city.

In January, the force had intensified action against no-parking violations in Golmuri. In addition, a vehicle thief was nabbed during a helmet check by the traffic police earlier this year.

In March, the department had also seized illicit liquor at the Jugsalai railway gate during a routine check operation.
