Purva Sainik Seva Parishad Submits Demand Letter; Saryu Roy Accompanies Delegation

RANCHI — A delegation from the Purva Sainik Seva Parishad met Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his wife, MLA Kalpana Soren, at the Vidhan Sabha office in Ranchi, seeking reservation for ex-servicemen in state government jobs.
Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy accompanied the ex-servicemen delegation during the meeting. Former Ghatsila MLA Kunal Sarangi also extended significant support in facilitating the visit.
The delegation comprised Sergeant Anirudh Singh, Petty Officer Sushil Kumar Singh, Petty Officer Rajeev Ranjan, Sergeant Ashok Srivastava and Havildar Mithlesh Singh. They represent veterans from all three armed forces — the Army, Navy and Air Force — settled in Jharkhand.
The Purva Sainik Seva Parishad submitted a demand letter to the Chief Minister. The letter sought reservation in state government jobs on the lines of other states in the country. In addition, the delegation demanded waiver of holding tax for veterans and allotment of government land for their rehabilitation.
The meeting was described as enthusiastic. Kalpana Soren, herself a soldier’s daughter, received the delegation warmly. The Chief Minister’s office assured the delegation of full cooperation in addressing their demands.
Petty Officer Sushil Kumar Singh said the organisation had been working for the welfare of the nation, society and the armed forces community for the past 17 years since retirement. He said the work would continue in the future as well.
The Purva Sainik Seva Parishad pointed out that trained and disciplined veterans settling in their home state would contribute significantly to Jharkhand’s overall development. However, in the absence of suitable employment, many qualified veterans are currently migrating out of the state in search of better opportunities.
The delegation noted that ex-servicemen residing in Jharkhand have consistently shown willingness to offer volunteer services to the government and administration in adverse situations. Moreover, every soldier remains committed to national duty throughout life, a resolve that continues well after retirement.
The ex-servicemen’s council has been actively raising welfare issues over the years. In recent months, it has organised events including Navy Day celebrations and a Chhath welfare initiative. The council had also honoured Saryu Roy after his election victory last year.
