JAMSHEDPUR – Ex-servicemen council launched its annual Chhath service initiative on Saturday, selling puja items and fruits at wholesale rates to devotees across the city.

Chhath festival began with Nahay Khay on Saturday. Devotees started preparations for the four-day festival. Meanwhile, ex-servicemen shifted focus from national to social service.

Purva Sainik Sevaparishad organized the distribution program. They sold puja materials at subsidized rates. Moreover, fruits were offered at wholesale prices.

Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy attended the event. He inaugurated the fruit sale program. However, the ceremony began with Maa Bharti aarti.

Hundreds of devotees gathered at the venue. They received puja items and fruits. Besides, eight varieties of fruits were distributed.

“Ex-servicemen council distributes fruits every year,” Roy said. This year continues that tradition. On the other hand, participation has increased significantly.

Roy highlighted community involvement in Chhath celebrations. Everyone ensures their participation in the festival. Furthermore, the public faith aspect remains paramount.

The distribution center operated at Mango Chowk. Puja materials were made available there. In addition, volunteers assisted devotees with purchases.

Ex-servicemen volunteers managed the entire operation. They served devotees throughout the day. Consequently, hundreds benefited from wholesale pricing.

The council sourced fresh fruits for distribution. Quality checks were conducted beforehand. Similarly, puja items met traditional requirements.

Roy praised ex-servicemen for their social service. Their post-retirement commitment continues serving people. Moreover, such initiatives strengthen community bonds during festivals.

The program will continue throughout Chhath festival. Additional distribution points may be established. Meanwhile, volunteers remain on duty daily.
