JAMSHEDPUR – The district administration conducted a major raid against illegal tobacco vendors near private schools in Kadma, resulting in penalties and product seizures.

SDO Dhalbhum Shatabdi Majumdar led the inspection team. Meanwhile, Executive Magistrate Chandrajit Singh and Food Safety Officer Manjar Hussain assisted in the operation.

Comprehensive Enforcement Drive

The team thoroughly checked shops near Jusco and DBMS schools. Moreover, they focused on establishments selling both food items and tobacco products.

“Regular inspections will continue to protect students from harmful substances,” an official stated. Furthermore, the seized items will be destroyed following legal procedures.

Community Engagement Initiative

The administration has intensified tobacco control measures around educational institutions. Besides, local residents are being encouraged to report violations.

The COTPA mandates a tobacco-free zone within 100 yards of schools. However, many vendors were found flouting these regulations.

Future Prevention Measures

The district administration plans more such raids across Jamshedpur. Additionally, awareness campaigns will be conducted to educate shopkeepers about tobacco laws.

Earlier raids have shown significant violations near schools. On the other hand, recent enforcement has improved compliance in some areas.
