CHAKULIA – President Droupadi Murmu laid the foundation stone for the Chakulia-Budamara railway line during an event today. MP Bidyut Baran Mahato and MLA Sameer Mohanty were the chief guests at the Chakulia Railway Station ceremony.
President Murmu also inaugurated two additional railway projects in Odisha’s Bangriposi region. These developments aim to improve rail connectivity between Odisha and Jharkhand. At Chakulia, the foundation ceremony brought attention to long-pending regional railway infrastructure.
Following the event, MLA Sameer Mohanty submitted a nine-point memorandum to the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Kharagpur Railway Division. The memorandum highlighted the poor condition of roads on both sides of Chakulia Railway Station. Passengers face significant challenges reaching the station due to these deteriorated roads.
The demands included a halt for the Down Ranchi-Hatia Kriya Yoga Express at Chakulia and the resumption of Birsa Munda Express and Lalmati Express train services. Furthermore, MLA Mohanty requested the reinstatement of the Chakulia-Tatanagar passenger train departing at 1:30 PM. He also emphasized the need to start operations for the approved Chakulia-Ranchi passenger train.
In addition, the memorandum proposed installing lifts on platforms one and two at Chakulia Station to enhance passenger accessibility. These demands underscore the region’s ongoing need for improved infrastructure and train services.
