JAMSHEDPUR – Women across Jamshedpur are queuing up from dawn at the Block office to apply for the state’s Maiya Samman welfare program.

The Block office witnesses unprecedented crowds each morning. Moreover, applicants arrive from diverse neighborhoods including Sakchi and Golmuri.

Technical Challenges

Server issues have disrupted the application process significantly. Meanwhile, many women wait without basic amenities for hours.

Furthermore, the office has extended its working hours until 3:30 PM. However, the extension hasn’t fully resolved the backlog.

Background of the Scheme

The Maiya Samman Yojana launched in January 2024 in Jharkhand. In addition, it provides Rs 2,000 monthly support to eligible women.

Furthermore, the scheme aims to benefit 7 lakh women statewide. Besides, it has a budget allocation of Rs 1,000 crore.

Implementation Measures

The Block office has established two dedicated counters. Meanwhile, the regular timing remains 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

“We are working to resolve the technical difficulties,” stated a local administrator. Moreover, additional staff deployment is under consideration.
