JAMSHEDPUR – Vineet Saraiwala, founder of Atypical Advantage, was conferred the prestigious National Award by President Droupadi Murmu today in New Delhi. The award, presented under the category of Best Institution for PwD Empowerment, recognizes Saraiwala’s contribution to uplifting persons with disabilities (PwDs) across India.

Journey of Resilience and Vision

Saraiwala, an alumnus of IIM Bangalore, launched Atypical Advantage inspired by his personal journey. He lives with retinitis pigmentosa, a condition that gradually impaired his vision. Despite this, he has created a platform that connects PwDs with opportunities to showcase their skills to corporates and agencies.

In 2023, Saraiwala also appeared on Shark Tank India, where he shared his inspiring journey. His pitch highlighted the mission of Atypical Advantage and its transformative impact. The judges offered him ₹30 lakh for 3% equity, which he accepted. The episode garnered nationwide support for his vision.

The Role of Atypical Advantage

Atypical Advantage is India’s largest livelihood platform for PwDs, run by Atypical Platform Private Limited. It provides a unique space for individuals to demonstrate talents and secure meaningful engagements. Saraiwala describes it as more than just a hiring platform—it’s a movement towards an inclusive society.

Shaping a New Perspective on Disability

Saraiwala’s efforts challenge the stigma surrounding disabilities. He aims to redefine how society perceives and supports the disabled community. “Perspective is more significant than sight,” he has often emphasized.

Saraiwala has previously received the National Startup Award and other honors. His work is a beacon of hope for creating a society where abilities are celebrated, regardless of physical limitations.
