JAMSHEDPUR – Under the aegis of the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) Chaibasa Zone, the 62nd Annual Mines Safety Week 2024 Mechanical Test was conducted at Tata Steel’s Noamundi Iron Mine on November 22.
Competitors from Kiriburu Iron Ore Mine, Meghahatuburu Iron Ore Mine, Gua Ore Mine, and Noamundi Iron Mine participated in this technical trade test under the A1-A Group category. The event aimed to evaluate participants’ skills through written, oral, and practical examinations.
The panel of examiners included T.P. Sameer Kumar, Satyendra Gautam, Dilip Kumar, and Shiv Kumar. Certificates and awards for successful competitors will be presented by the Mines Safety Committee.
Pankaj Srivastava, the Safety Officer at Noamundi Iron Mine, conducted the program, emphasizing the criticality of safety in mining operations. During their addresses, officials from participating mines stressed adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and identifying hazards in six directions before commencing tasks.
Officials highlighted the importance of mitigating risks through proactive safety measures. "Recognizing and addressing hazards ensures a safer work environment and prevents accidents," remarked an examiner during the session.
The event reinforced the commitment to safety, knowledge sharing, and adherence to best practices among mining professionals in the region.
