JAMSHEDPUR – The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has sought forest land clearance to advance its elevated corridor project on National Highway 33.
The corridor, spanning Mirzadih and Pardih areas, is critical for connecting the Chota Nagpur Plateau to Odisha.
A compensatory afforestation land (CA Land) of 2.1812 hectares is mandated for this development as per Forest Conservation Rules, 2022.
Officials confirmed that the project aims to minimize vehicular disruptions to the elephant movement in the region.
The construction, operating under EPC mode, is set to stretch 241.940 km to 251.952 km, ensuring smoother transit for local and interstate vehicles.
Project Timeline and Approvals
NHAI received clearance from the Ministry of Environment and Forests, with formal land allocation scheduled to conclude by September 2024.
The project, appointed on September 14, 2024, is set for completion by March 2027.
An official remarked, "This initiative addresses both ecological concerns and critical transportation demands."
