SERAIKELA – In a solemn ceremony held at Birsa Chowk and the district collectorate premises in Seraikela-Kharsawan, Deputy Commissioner Jayvardhan Kumar paid floral tributes to the statue of Birsa Munda.

The event commemorated both Birsa Munda Jayanti and Jharkhand Foundation Day.

Deputy Commissioner Kumar extended heartfelt greetings to the residents of the district, acknowledging the significance of the occasion.

Birsa Munda, born on November 15, 1875, in Ulihatu, Jharkhand, is revered as a tribal freedom fighter and folk hero.

His leadership in the late 19th-century tribal uprising against British colonial rule has left an indelible mark on India’s history.

The state of Jharkhand was established on November 15, 2000, coinciding with Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary, underscoring his enduring legacy.

The dual celebration highlights the cultural and historical importance of the day for the people of Jharkhand.

A local resident remarked, "Honoring Birsa Munda’s memory on this day reminds us of our rich heritage and the struggles of our ancestors."
