JAMSHEDPUR – Three men from Bihar were brutally murdered in the Naxal-affected Gudri area of West Singhbhum district, Jharkhand, near Jatarma village.

The victims, who were vendors from Bihar, had been traveling in the region, going door to door for trade.

They were last seen on Sunday, and when they didn’t return to their base in Bandgaon, their fellow traders launched a search on Monday.

Their mutilated bodies were found on Tuesday by the police after an extensive search.

The victims, identified as Rakesh Kumar (26) and his brother Ramesh Kumar (22) from Shivhar district, and Tulsi Kumar (24) from Motihari, were tied to wooden poles, beaten, and had their heads crushed with stones.

Their bodies were found near the banks of a river, with severe injuries, including mutilation of their genitals.

Due to the location being in a Naxal-affected zone, police from both Gudri and Bandgaon stations had to collaborate for the recovery.

Though the motive behind the killings is unclear, local law enforcement, under the supervision of District Police Chief Ashutosh Shekhar, has begun an investigation.

Postmortem procedures for the bodies are set for Wednesday in Chaibasa Subdivision Hospital.
