Sakchi Petrol Pump Owner Denies Fraud After Viral Video

Shivji Singh Shows Documents, Calls It Defamation Conspiracy

Key Points:

  • Viral video sparks row at Sakchi Indian Oil petrol pump
  • Car owner alleged overfilling beyond 50-liter tank capacity
  • Owner cites company data showing Hyundai Creta tank holds 60+ liters

JAMSHEDPUR – A controversy erupted in Sakchi after a viral video accused an Indian Oil petrol pump of malpractice, but the owner has dismissed it as a deliberate attempt to damage his reputation.

The incident took place on September 14 around noon. A Hyundai Creta arrived at the pump, where staff filled 49 liters of petrol. The employee insisted the tank still had capacity and added another 9 liters.

The car owner argued that his vehicle had a 50-liter tank and questioned how it could hold 58 liters. Accusing the pump of dishonesty, he claimed the fuel was initially underfilled and later topped up. The video of the confrontation quickly spread on social media, sparking heated debate.

Pump owner Shivji Singh later addressed the press, presenting documents and investigation reports. Indian Oil’s sales officer inspected the machines and confirmed them to be accurate.

In addition, Hyundai clarified in writing that the Creta’s actual tank capacity exceeds 60 liters, though for safety reasons the recommended fill is below 50 liters.

Singh stated, “The truth is clear in the reports. This was a targeted move to tarnish the pump’s reputation.” He added that social media amplified unverified claims, putting years of hard-earned credibility at risk.

The incident has reignited concerns over how quickly reputations can be damaged in the digital age.
