Police apprehend Md. Munna under POCSO Act for making obscene gestures to students
A tempo driver in Jamshedpur was arrested for allegedly making indecent gestures towards schoolgirls near a local stand.
JAMSHEDPUR – Police have arrested a tempo driver, Md. Munna, for allegedly harassing schoolgirls with obscene gestures in the Kadma area.
The incident occurred near Shastri Nagar Block No. 3 stand in Kadma police station limits.
Authorities have registered a case under the POCSO Act, recognizing the gravity of the situation.
Md. Munna, a resident of Dhatkidih Sonar Line Radio Maidan in the Bistupur area, has been taken into judicial custody.
The accused allegedly made inappropriate gestures towards a schoolgirl last Wednesday.
Upon learning of the incident, the girl’s family members rushed to the stand to confront the driver.
Md. Munna, however, managed to flee the scene in his tempo when he spotted the girl’s relatives.
A crowd of hundreds reportedly chased the accused, but he managed to escape.
The victim’s family filed a written complaint at the police station following the incident.
Law enforcement acted swiftly, arresting Munna during a raid and subsequently sending him to jail.
The police are currently investigating the case to gather more details.
Md. Munna reportedly operated his tempo between Kadma Shastri Nagar Block No. 3 and Sakchi Gol Chakkar.
He was known to frequently park his vehicle at the stand and make obscene gestures towards schoolgirls.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of students in the area.
