JAMSHEDPUR – Jeevan will hold competitions to promote mental health awareness in observance of World Suicide Prevention Day.
Jeevan, a suicide prevention center in Jamshedpur, is organizing a series of events to mark World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10.
These activities aim to increase awareness about mental health and suicide prevention among school and college students.
A major activity planned is a rally, which schools and colleges are encouraged to organize between September 3 and September 10.
The rally’s purpose is to encourage open discussions about mental health, suicide, and suicidal behavior to help reduce the stigma surrounding these topics.
Various competitions, including Nukkad Natak, T-shirt Painting, and a Debate, will take place on Saturday, August 31, at the RMS Khutadih school auditorium.
The Nukkad Natak competition will feature teams of 6-8 participants performing street plays that align with this year’s theme.
Each play will be limited to three minutes and must include two songs that convey the importance of life and starting conversations about mental health.
Participants are allowed to use props during their performances, which will be conducted in Hindi.
For the T-shirt Painting competition, participants will design T-shirts with slogans promoting mental health.
Jeevan will provide the T-shirts, but participants must bring their own painting materials.
Each participant will have one hour to complete their design, and they may write slogans in either English or Hindi.
The Debate Competition will center on the topic, "The effectiveness of Essential Mental Health Education in Educational Institutions."
Teams will consist of two members, with one speaking for the motion and the other against it.
The debate will be conducted in either English or Hindi, with each speaker given two minutes.
Certificates will be awarded to all participants, and the top three winners in each category will receive prizes.
The awards will be presented during the World Suicide Prevention Day program on September 10.
The winning teams from the Nukkad Natak competition will also perform at the event.
