Tata Steel Hosts Badminton Championship for Senior Citizens
16 participants compete in event at JRD TATA Sports Complex
Senior Citizen Fun and Fitness League promotes active lifestyle among older adults in Jamshedpur.
JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel’s sports department organized a Senior Citizen Badminton Championship at the Badminton Indoor Stadium, JRD TATA Sports Complex on August 20, 2024.
The event was part of the Senior Citizen Fun and Fitness League, a year-long program engaging seniors in various sports activities.
Sixteen participants took part in the championship, showcasing their badminton skills and enthusiasm.
Ashok Kumar, Commandant of CRPF, graced the event as the chief guest and presented prizes to the finalists.
A special award was given to P Mohan Rao, aged 82+, recognizing his participation and spirit.
Vivek Sharma, a badminton coach, officiated the tournament, ensuring fair play and smooth proceedings.
The event was led by Dinesh Rakshit, Manager (Sports), and Neelam Kumari, Senior Manager Accounts & Establishment (Sports).
Head of Sports, Vibhuti Dhand Adesara, provided overall leadership for the championship.
This initiative highlights Tata Steel’s commitment to promoting health and fitness among senior citizens.
