Souryadipta Sarkar secures 6th place in All India Open FIDE Rated Chess Tournament

A young chess player from Jamshedpur has demonstrated exceptional skill at a national-level competition.

JAMSHEDPUR – Souryadipta Sarkar, a talented chess player from Jamshedpur, achieved 6th place in the 2nd All India Open FIDE Rated Open Chess Tournament 2024.

The prestigious event, organized by the Andaman Nicobar Chess Association, took place in Port Blair.

Sarkar competed against 156 other players, showcasing his strategic prowess over nine rounds.

His impressive performance earned him 7 points and a cash prize of Rs. 6000, along with a trophy presented by the Chief Guest.

The tournament utilized the FIDE Technology and FIDE Swiss System of Chess, ensuring a fair and competitive environment.

Sarkar’s coach, International Master Neeraj Kumar Mishra, expressed pride in his student’s achievement.

International Arbiter Chandan Kumar Prasad also congratulated Sarkar, acknowledging his dedication as a student of Chandan Chess Academy.

In addition to his main tournament success, Sarkar demonstrated versatility by securing 2nd position in the Blitz Chess Tournament.

This accomplishment earned him an additional cash prize of Rs. 2000, further highlighting his chess expertise.

Sarkar’s outstanding performance at both events has solidified his growing reputation in the chess community.
