Filaria-Free Campaign to Begin in Jharkhand from August 10

Health Minister Banna Gupta discusses state’s preparations with Union Health Minister.

Jharkhand is set to launch a Filaria-free campaign from August 10 across nine districts. Health Minister Banna Gupta has outlined the state’s plans to target 1.24 crore people out of a total population of 1.41 crore in these districts.

JAMSHEDPUR – Jharkhand’s Filaria-free campaign will commence on August 10 across nine districts, aiming to cover 1.24 crore people.

The campaign will be conducted in Chatra, Dumka, Godda, Hazaribagh, Jamtara, Latehar, Palamu, Seraikela, and West Singhbhum districts.

A total of 1,777 health centers have been set up to administer medicine in 14,095 identified villages.

The state plans to distribute 3.11 crore doses through trained health workers.

During a video conference with Union Health Minister Pratap Rao Jadhav, Banna Gupta emphasized the importance of addressing the needs of those living below the poverty line, who are most vulnerable to filaria.

He also urged the swift completion of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in affected districts.

Given the ongoing monsoon, he stressed the need for quick distribution of mosquito nets across the state, particularly in Jharkhand.

ACMO Jogeshwar Prasad and District Filaria Officer A. Mitra were also present at the event.
