2 die due to electrocution with 11000v wire in Baharagora

Dr. Ajoy Kumar demands punitive action against officials found responsible for tragedy

Jamshedpur: In another tragic incident caused due to laxity of the electricity department, two villagers lost their lives in Muturkham panchayat in Baharagora block after they were electrocuted after coming in contact with an overhead wire leading to the village that broke and fell over a 11000v overhead wire in Jadapal village. The villagers working in the field came in contact with the wire that had fallen on the ground and were electrocuted.

According to sources, the two villagers who died due to electrocution have been identified as Kanan Soren of Dholabera village and Ramjit Hansda of Jadapal village.

The tragedy has caused a flutter in the rural areas.

Soon after the incident, the Baharagora MLA Samir Mahanty spoke to the DC and the officials of electricity department and asked them to ensure that not only adequate compensation is paid to the affected families, but the wire too is changed as soon as possible.

The MLA also rushed to the village.

The Executive Engineer got immediate payment of Rs. 25 thousand made to the each affected family as quick relief.

The MLA too extended a help of Rs. 5 thousand to the each family on his behalf.

He expressed shock and the incident and said that he would continue to help the families even in future.

The state spokesman of BJP Kunal Sarnagi too has demanded adequate compensation to the affected families and has urged the department to change all the wires that have become old and have turned into a safety hazard.

The Ex-MP of Jamshedpur and Congress leader Dr. Ajoy Kumar too has urged adequate compensation to the families. He also urged the Chief Minister Hemant Soren to take strict action against the officials responsible for this tragedy.

In a letter to the CM, Dr. Ajoy Kumar said that even earlier in this very month, a high tension wire had fell on four villagers in Pipla and they had died.

He called this a serious safety violation issue by the irresponsible officials of the electricity department.

He urged the CM to ensure that action is taken against the officials responsible for the tragedy and Rs. 10 lakh compensation be paid to each of the affected families.
