DAV Bistupur School Hosts Youth Parliament and UN Simulation

Students debate reservation and global warming in experiential learning event

DAV Public School Bistupur organized a Youth Parliament and UN General Assembly simulation for students to gain practical insights into diplomatic processes.

JAMSHEDPUR – DAV Public School Bistupur held a Youth Parliament and United Nations General Assembly simulation on August 5, 2024, for students in grades 5-8.

The Youth Parliament saw 78 students representing various political parties, engaging in discussions on reservation policies.

Participants debated whether reservation should be based on caste or economic criteria.

A consensus was reached to prioritize economic conditions for determining reservation eligibility.

The proposal for economic-based reservation passed unanimously.

In the UN General Assembly simulation, 59 students represented different countries to debate global warming.

Delegates agreed on reducing traditional energy dependence and promoting electric vehicles as crucial steps.

A climate protection bill focusing on non-conventional energy sources was passed unanimously.

The event commenced with the DAV song and the traditional lighting of a lamp.

Principal Pragya Singh, who also serves as ARO Jharkhand Zone E, encouraged students to apply their learning to real-world issues.

"This simulation provides valuable insights into parliamentary and diplomatic processes," stated Principal Singh.

She emphasized the importance of translating classroom knowledge into practical solutions for everyday challenges.

The experiential learning approach aimed to give students a hands-on understanding of complex global and national issues.
