Azad Samaj Party and Bhim Army staged a statewide protest against the Jharkhand government’s decision to eliminate SC reservation in chowkidar recruitment and appoint only one SC candidate among 170 forest officers.
JAMSHEDPUR – Azad Samaj Party and Bhim Army organized a statewide protest against the elimination of SC reservation in chowkidar recruitment and minimal representation in forest officer appointments.
Jharkhand State President Kashif Raza stated that the government’s actions ignore the rights of over 5 million Scheduled Castes in the state.
Despite Jharkhand being a separate state for 24 years, the condition of over 5 million Dalits remains unchanged.
Raza criticized the nine SC-reserved seat MLAs in the Jharkhand Assembly for their silence on these issues.
He assured that Azad Samaj Party is fighting for SC rights on the streets and plans to take this fight to the Assembly in the upcoming elections.
The party submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum, listing their demands.
The demands include ensuring SC reservation in chowkidar recruitment and revisiting forest officer appointments to allocate more seats to SC candidates as per reservation norms.
They also demanded scholarships for SC students on a 60:40 basis and 100% scholarship availability for SC students in Jharkhand.
The protest saw the participation of Ganesh Ram, Surjit Singh, Mazhar Khan, Shahid Raza, Jibran Azad, Shamim Akram, Ansar Hussain, Suresh Ram, Soni Kaur, and several other activists.
Raza urged the Chief Minister to consider these demands seriously and ensure SC representation in chowkidar and forest officer appointments.
