Non-stop heavy rain in Bokaro causes a bridge collapse, cutting off Dumri and Dhende villages from the main road.
Continuous heavy rain in Bokaro for the past 12 hours has caused significant damage, including the collapse of a bridge pillar, severing connections to a nearby village.
BOKARO – The relentless heavy rain in Bokaro over the past 12 hours has led to the collapse of a crucial bridge, isolating Dumri and Dhende villages in the Gomia block.
The bridge, which connected these villages and facilitated travel between Bokaro and Hazaribagh districts, saw one of its pillars washed away, disrupting the movement of people and vehicles.
The collapse has completely halted bus services from Bokaro to Ranchi, affecting approximately 10,000 residents who now find themselves cut off from each other.
This bridge, built in 2012, had six pillars, one of which was swept away, causing the upper part of the bridge to sink into the river.
There are also unconfirmed reports of one person being swept away by the water.
Local authorities are yet to confirm these reports.
The heavy rainfall has wreaked havoc, and efforts are underway to assess the damage and restore connectivity.
