Grandmother’s Refusal to Provide Cash Leads to Drastic Action
A young man from Harharguttu, Bagbera, attempted suicide following a dispute with his grandmother over money.
JAMSHEDPUR – In a distressing incident on Tuesday morning, an 18-year-old resident of Harharguttu in Bagbera attempted to take his own life by hanging.
The young man, identified as M Lohar, was rushed to MGM Hospital after neighbors intervened and cut him down.
Doctors have described his condition as critical.
According to sources, the suicide attempt stemmed from a disagreement over money.
Monu, who works at a tent house, had asked his grandmother for 500 rupees before leaving for work.
When she refused, citing concerns about his alleged substance abuse, the situation escalated rapidly.
"He often takes money from home for intoxicants," M Lohar’s grandmother reportedly stated.
The incident has raised concerns about mental health support and substance abuse issues among local youth.
M Lohar, who resides with his grandmother, is currently undergoing treatment at MGM Hospital.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
